Diane von Furstenberg

Belgian-born von Furstenberg became fashion royalty in 1976 when she sold 5 million of her iconic wrap dress and landed the cover of Newsweek. One of the first designers to create a fragrance (“Tatiana” in 1975), a home furnishings collection, a cosmetics business, a French-language publishing house and on-air TV shopping, von Furstenberg now has 34 free-standing DVF boutiques and the brand is sold in select specialty shops in 71 countries. In 2005, she won the CFDA’s Lifetime Achievement award, and in 2008 she was inducted into the Fashion Center BID Fashion Walk of Fame. She is president of the CFDA. In 2010, The Diller-von Furstenberg Family Foundation was established to honor “women who’ve displayed leadership and courage in their commitment to their causes.”
