At 15, while a student at Manhattan’s Dalton School, Stuart sold her first collection of silver and leather chokers and suede-fringed hobos to Bloomingdale’s. In 1993, after attending the Rhode Island School of Design, she launched her namesake business. Fueled by the publicity she received from her designs in the film “Clueless”, Stuart expanded her business both in the U.S. and abroad. There are now more than 250 international Jill Stuart freestanding stores and in-shops. In addition to ready-to-wear, her products include cosmetics, fragrance, children’s wear, timepieces, jewelry and newly-opened Jill Stuart cafes. |
