After graduating from Harvard , Bartlett enrolled in the menswear program at FIT and launched his own label in 1992. The next year he received the CFDA’s Perry Ellis award for emerging talent, the first menswear designer ever to receive the honor. Bartlett won his second CFDA award, Menswear Designer of the Year, in 1997. Although based in New York, Bartlett later worked full time in Italy, producing his signature collection with the Genny Group and serving as Byblos’ creative director. At the end of 2002, he took a sabbatical to live in Thailand and Cambodia for a year, then reopened his menswear business. Earlier this year he launched his women’s collection.
