After just two years in business, Kors won DuPont’s 1983 first American Original award. In 1996 he was named by Vogue as part of “The New Establishment.” Since then he has won the CFDA Award for Womenswear Designer of the Year (1999), Menswear Designer of the Year (2003), Night of Stars award by Fashion Group International (2009) and the CFDA’s Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement award (2010.) Since 2004, Kors has been a judge on Project Runway. His flagship boutiques are located throughout the U.S., plus Milan and London, and there are 60 accessory-focused Kors stores in North America, Munich, Seoul and the Middle East. In March of 2009, first lady Michelle Obama wore a Kors gown for her first official portrait. His signature fragrances for both women and men have been followed by Island Michael Kors and Very Hollywood Michael Kors. |
