Winner of the Smithsonian’s Cooper Hewitt National Design Award in 2004, Yeohlee is a powerful spokesperson for modernity and an authority on functionalism in fashion. She moved to New York from her native Malaysia to study at Parsons School of Design, and established her eponymous company in 1981. Her designs have earned a permanent place in the Costume Collection at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and have been featured in solo shows at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and the Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York and in other major fashion museums worldwide.
